Southeast Asian Flagship Languages Initiative (SEAFLI)/Boren Fellowship
Study Vietnamese intensively during the summer at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and continue with a fall semester abroad in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The program covers all expenses—tuition, housing, travel, insurance, and program support—for both the summer and fall programs.
No prior experience in Vietnamese is required, and the program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who apply for Boren Awards.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (Vietnamese Program)
Job Description:
The Vietnamese Program at Brown University seeks two enthusiastic, dedicated undergraduate teaching assistants to support our language instruction. As a teaching assistant, you can engage with undergraduates, facilitate tutorial sessions, lead language tables, and help develop teaching materials.
Qualifications:
– We welcome applications from both native speakers of Vietnamese and non-native speakers who have completed Advanced Vietnamese courses at other institutions.
– Essential requirements include excellent pronunciation, solid conversational skills at the intermediate level, and a passion for the Vietnamese language and culture.
UTRA Program: Vietnamese Language and Culture Enrichment Project: Advanced Content Development and Digital Expansion” (EAAS-2)
Project Description:
Building on the success of the first phase, which focused on curating and compiling materials for VIET 400 (Intermediate Vietnamese), Phase Two aims to expand and enhance the materials developed for VIET 400, focusing on advanced content and interactive digital resources.
Advanced Content Development:
This phase will add more in-depth topics on Vietnamese linguistic variations, including dialects, sociolects, and formal/informal usage. It will also incorporate specialized cultural modules on mythology, indigenous beliefs, and contemporary socio-political movements in Vietnam. Students will research, curate, and translate these materials, providing explanations on vocabulary and cultural insights.
UTRA Program: Student Undergraduate Illustrator- Vietnamese Language Program
Project Description:
Vietnamese Quest II is a gamified Vietnamese language course that uses storylines, characters, and cultural themes to support language learning. We are seeking a creative undergraduate illustrator to help bring the course world to life.
Qualifications
– Experience with digital illustration tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, etc.).
– Strong creative and visual storytelling skills.
– Ability to design expressive characters and engaging educational visuals.
– Familiarity with gamification or educational game design (preferred).
– Attention to cultural detail and willingness to research Vietnamese aesthetics and motifs.
– Interest in the Vietnamese language and culture (preferred).
– Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines independently.
